Rory Wins 2nd Straight at Crooked Stick; Zach, Strick Head to East Lake

McIlroy shot a final round 5-under par 67 to beat Westwood (69) and Mickelson (70) by two strokes for his second consecutive FedEx Cup Playoffs victory and his third win in his last four starts, including last month's PGA Championship. The 23-year-old Northern Irishman finished at 20-under par 268 on rounds of 64-68-69-67.
Tiger Woods, who shot a final round 68 after starting the day three shots off the lead, finished tied for fourth with Robert Garrigus (69).
"Some suggested that I could have taken the week off and still could have been in the top five in the FedExCup standing going into [the TOUR Championship in] Atlanta, but I felt like I was playing really well and didn't want to stop that run," McIlroy said.
John Deere Classic defending champion Zach Johnson shot a final round even par 72 and finished tied for 12th at 12-under par. Steve Stricker, winner of the John Deere Classic from 2009-2011, finished tied for 26th after shooting a final round 71. Both will play in the TOUR Championship in two weeks.
All 12 members of the U.S. Ryder Cup team - including Zach and Strick - made it into the top 30 of the FedExCup Playoffs as did five members of the European Ryder Cup squad, meaning 17 of the 24 Ryder Cup team members will be in the field at East Lake Golf Club.
The Ryder Cup runs Sept. 28-30 at Medinah Country Club outside Chicago.
Among the final 30 in the TOUR Championship field, 20 played the John Deere Classic at least once during their careers and seven who played this year - Zach Johnson, Stricker, Carl Petterson, Garrigus, Ryan Moore, John Senden, and Scott Piercy. Three - Johnson, Stricker, and Senden - are John Deere Classic champions.
