Stricker’s Wife to Caddy for Him at Greenbrier

It's back to the future this week for Steve Stricker and wife Nicki.

Nicki will caddie for her husband at the Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia, according to a report by veteran golf scribe Gary D'Amato of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Nicki was Steve's regular looper from 1994-'98 during which he won twice, including the 1996 Western Open at Cog Hill G&CC outside Chicago.  She stopped caddying regularly after giving birth to the couple's first child, daughter Bobbi.  She has looped  for her husband on other occasions, including the Greater Milwaukee Open and the Par 3 Contest at The Masters.

Stricker's regular caddie, Jimmy Johnson, will be back on the bag next week at TPC Deere Run, when the John Deere Classic's three-time defending champion tries to become only the fifth player in championship golf history to win the same tournament four consecutive times.  Stricker is one of only 17 players to have won the same event three straight times.

Steve originally had given this week off to Johnson, but added Greenbrier after skipping last week's AT&T National event.  He decided not to play Tiger Woods's tournament at Congressional Country Club in Washington, D.C. after playing in the U.S. Open, his own charity event, and Luke Donald's charity event.

"I added Greenbrier because I'm trying to make that Ryder Cup team," he said in a text to D'Amato.  Stricker, who has been paired successfully with Woods on a number of Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup teams, currently stands 14th in Ryder Cup points.  The top eight players on the points list receive automatic berths; team captain Davis Love has four picks.

Stricker is scheduled to play his Thursday and Friday rounds at Greenbrier with Woods and recently-crowned U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson.
